Adventures in the gym

Because of the cold and the snow, I cannot run anymore outside and I decided to run on a treadmill in a gym. I signed for a month. But after my first time running there I realized that there is simply no air in the room -- I could only run half as much as I could do outside, up and down the hills. So I asked the guy at the reception whether there was any kind of ventilation there, especially since we were in the basement. He said that they have air conditioning but people asked them to turn it off because it is too cold. And the door they cannot open because it is too cold outside. But actually that one door which is tightly shut is the sole source of oxygen. Hmm, why do I only learn this after having just paid for a whole month?

But I decided to persevere and take the lack of air as a physical challenge. The next morning I was running again when suddenly my treadmill stopped and everything went black. A power outage. If not for the handrails, I would have fallen off the thing. Then the lights came back and a staff said that this happens here and it is likely that it will now happen again a couple more times while I am there. "Run carefully!" she added.

But today was my third day and everything worked fine. I emerged unharmed from the dungeons of the gym.
