Ruszwurm: I don't wanna be waiting in vain

Last night we walked up to the Castle Hill today and tried to get some ice cream before the season is completely over. Ruszwurm cukrászda is the closest place to the stairs where we reach the top, and their pistachio is not bad. Mind you, this is a really old and famous business with lots of pride and ego, and way above average prices.

Since it was already quite chilly, there were hardly anyone at the shop, and a few waitresses were chatting with each other behind the counter. We waited for a while by the ice cream stand, about 6 feet from them but they took no notice of us. This has happened before so we just kept waiting, for another 10 minutes. But nothing happened. Eventually my wife lost her patience and went out, while I tried to catch the attention of the 4 waitresses who were trying hard to understand what a Spanish tourist was saying. "Dollares, euro?" The waitresses stared with blank expression...

In the meantime other tourists came in and after standing around for a few minutes left the shop. It was amazing to see how customers were literally driven away but inattention.

Eventually I got one of the waitresses to get me ice cream which by this time, of course, did not taste quite as sweet as it would have 15 minutes ago. When I asked why we had to wait so long, she said that they were understaffed.

??

So we will probably avoid this place, even though it is right next to us. And here is a piece of friendly advice to the management: Fire the waitresses who drive away about a third of the customers by idly chatting to each other. After all, we are going through a depression and unemployment rate is on the rise.
